President's Message
VIA’s President’s Message
Welcome Neighbors! I wish to especially welcome those who
have moved into the Village over the past few months. This summer will hopefully be smoke free and Villagers will be able
to take full advantage of all that our beautiful area offers.
It has been my pleasure to have been your TVIA president
over the past 4 years. I want to thank the TVIA membership for your continued support of TVIA’s efforts to promote the
beautification, safety, and welfare of our Village community. Your TVIA dues pay for the ongoing expenses for the river gate
keys, the Trinity Village Map/Community Board, brush clearing, safety lighting, maintenance of the Trinity Village sign and
planter, The Village Voice Newsletter, The Village Voice web site <gotrinityvillage.com>, the Telephone Emergency Alert
System, and the Hawkins Bar Neighborhood Watch program.
My wife Nancy and I have been a part of the Village since
1974 and became “full timers” in 2005. We have proudly witnessed the evolution of the Village into a vibrant
community full of talented, caring people. In last year’s newsletter I borrowed the phrase “It takes a village.
. .’ in reference to all of the hundreds of hours that numerous volunteers spent for the betterment of our “Village.”
No better example of this was with threat from the Iron Complex fire last summer. Nancy and I were liaisons for the Village
with the U.S. Fire Service and the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office. We mobilized 10 teams of volunteers from the HBVFD
and TVIA’s Hawkins Bar Neighborhood Watch to go door to door to over 200 homes with the “Advisory of Voluntary
Evacuation” notice from the Sheriff’s Office. I would publicly like to thank Carol Draper, Rogene Rawlins, Ron
Briggs, Gary Dodson, Vince Freemantle, Naomi Hunt, Ron Wermes, Johnny Perrone, Kent Brown, and Josh Schertzer. They did an
awesome job.
Last, but not least, the TVIA Board and I wish to recognize
the efforts of the Trinity Village Water Company in acquiring a government grant that will pay for a state of the art water
plant treatment system for the Village. The new system will not only enhance living here, but will increase our fire protection
capabilities and real estate values. On behalf of the Village, thank you.
Kudos all around,
Gary
PS: Please plan time to attend the Annual TVIA meeting
on Sunday July 5th at 11 a.m. at the Village Fire Hall. This is your opportunity to have input and help plan TVIA projects
and to choose officers and board members. Do you have someone who you think would be a good representative for you? Nominate
them at the meeting. Think about volunteering yourself, running for an office or board position. Remember that volunteerism
is rewarding and plays a big part in the continuing revitalization of Trinity Village.
